Yesterday I went to my second pre-op appointment for my gallbladder surgery. The first pre-op appointment was disastrous since the surgeon was a complete jerk. I won't bother to go into details except to say he was really rude and that he really should not be in the line of work that he is.
The surgeon I saw yesterday was really nice and answered all my questions. My surgery is set for August 8th and I will be so glad to get it over with. I have been dealing with this pain for the last ten years. During the last few months I have been in constant pain and sometimes the pain gets unbearable. Needless to say, I will be overjoyed when I can go about my life without having the pain dictate what I can or cannot do.
I'm sorry that I haven't been on to blog, but I had a bad episode of pain and when that happens I really do not think about blogging.
The discussions in my CRJ 201 class are about "Jails and Prisons" and "The United States v. Leon". Unfortunately, I have a lot of knowledge about jails and prisons since my father was a police officer and the fact that certain relatives seem to think that incarceration is a way of life. The United States v. Leon was about giving my own opinion of the verdict. It had to do with the fourth amendment and the exclusionary rule. It really does not matter how we "feel" about something when it comes to laws and rules. If a search warrant is given without sufficient probable cause then the search warrant is not valid and the evidence gets suppressed regardless of how important it may be in a case.
Have a great Friday everyone!!!

Not my normal posting day, but here I am!!!
I think that this possible new issue of the "Social Security" checks not being sent out in August is just a bunch of B.S. I do not think that social security should ever be put into jeopardy like that. Senior citizens and disabled people should not have to worry about that sort of thing. Social security should be an area that would never be touched unless something catastrophic such as...the end of the world, but then it won't really matter at that point.
Just like they keep cutting the budget for education (at all levels, including college). Do not think that we have not caught on to all the juggling and half-truths!
Anyhow, the issue here is not that they will ever send the checks out; it is a matter of when. I'm pretty sure they don't plan to stiff them on the money, but this is the almighty government we are talking about. The people that are on social security have to have that money on time. They have to pay for their shelter, food, and other bills. I really do not see the lawmakers going without anything while they take their sweet time of deciding what to do.
Maybe if they had to then they might just care enough to get this stuff settled sooner than later.
I guess that I might be a little too sensitive about certain issues due to the fact I am a compassionate person who constantly reflects to make sure that any decisions I make are not hurting anyone involved.
(I really hope that they do not intend to make those poor people wait for their money!)

Recovering from illness...
The last twenty four hours has been pretty horrible. I started off my Monday morning with a lot of stomach pain and no sleep since the pain was preventing me from obtaining any rest. Over the period of the last ten years I have had pain such as this that was diagnosed as gall bladder issues. Recently, the pain has become a lot worse and the attacks are lasting a lot longer. This time was no exception. Thankfully my husband was home with me so I was able to lay down and try to ride it out. I almost went to the doctor since the pain was so intense and my breathing was shallow, but I stuck it out and got through the worst of it.
Unfortunately, my weekly assignment in my CRJ 201 class was due as were my weekly response posts to fellow students. Thankfully the pain wasn't as bad when I finally sat down in front of my computer. I didn't get to review my paper as much as I wanted so I'm crossing my fingers that I did well enough of a job on it. It took a bit long trying to post my responses in the discussion since I was really out of it from the pain and the prescribed medicine that I take for it.
It's not like it is easy to respond to people in the classes to begin with since it can be really hard to find someone that has wrote a good discussion post that you can comment on. There have been many times that I end up commenting on a post by providing information that the other person did not cover. Our posts are supposed to be between 250-300 words, but most of the people who really do not put forth that much effort ignore that and post less than 100 words. I know that this happens at many colleges since I have friends in other universities that complain of the same thing.
Thankfully, the other students do not have that much of an impact on how well I do on my own assignments. If they were group assignments I would be majorly freaking out since I never receive anything lower than an A and I don't plan to start getting less than the best. At the University of Phoenix they do the group assignments and one of my friends is constantly having to pull all of the weight of the group and assemble a project with very little data from the others.
I'm still not feeling great...so forgive me if I seem to be a bit grouchy or off topic. I promise that when I do recover that my blogs will be much more interesting.

Introduction
I'm a thirty something married mother of two and working on my BA at the fine school of AU. I started in 2008 originally shooting for just a "psychology" major, but then added on a second major in "social and criminal justice".
I used to think that college would be something that I could never achieve since due to my upbringing it just wasn't something that my family ever did. Psychology was always important to me and I was always drawn to helping others with their problems. If I had a nickel for every single time someone told me, "You would be such a good psychiatrist" well, I surely wouldn't have student loans now would I?
I'm sure the next year of blogging will be quite interesting since even though I love AU I have gotten quite discouraged and lost my faith in my fellow classmates. I never knew that so many people cheated their way through college... honestly what is the point in doing that? I really hope that at some point it catches up with them since I really would hate to see these people do anything like being a nonprofit counselor and have no real idea what psychology is about (I mention nonprofit counseling since that was the goal of one woman in my class that cheated like crazy.).
Anyhow, I plan on stating life as plainly as I can. I will be as nice as humanly possible since I can be a bit blunt about things, when I feel passionately about something. Feel free to leave comments and advice...oh and I guess you can send hate mail too, even though we all know what that truly means. :-)
